Celebrated My Birthday Climbing Snowdon

It’s been a great few days on the road with Casper, exploring North Wales. However, I am really feeling it today. I’ve woken up just feeling not too great. I feel like my Lupus has flared up a little. So I need to take it easy today!

We are currently on the Isle of Anglesey. It’s a beautiful Island. Very peaceful! I feel like we’ve made a good choice to come here for the bank holiday, as we seem to be missing all the holiday crowds. The weather has been lovely so far too. Cold on the nights though! Once that sun goes down, the heat seems to escape.

It was my birthday on Thursday. Most people like to celebrate their birthday chilling, going out for some nice food. I decided I wanted to climb Snowdon. So I did and loved every minute of it! We submitted at 9.30 in the morning, couldn’t see a single view, but it was perfect. It was my 3rd time summiting, and Alex’s first.

Here are some photos from when I climbed it age 5, age 13, and……well we won’t discuss today’s age!

The Wolf

Overall, the wolf has been behaving pretty well recently. I don’t feel as strong as I did with him when I went to Scotland back in May. However, I do feel a lot stronger than I have been recently, so I am happy.

I’ve been speaking to other Lupus suffers recently, how some days we can walk for miles and miles, and other days we are lucky to manage just a mile. It’s crazy has much control the wolf has of our bodies! How all your decisions have to be made around the wolf. It’s nice being able to speak to other people who are in the same situation as yourself, can relate, and truly understand what you’re are going through. As sometimes, having a chronic illness can single you out, make you feel quite isolated, and alone.

Anyways that’s it from me this week. It’s a short and sweet blog this week. I’m not in much of a writing mood today. It’s rare I feel like this. I think all the sun we’ve had hasn’t helped the way I feel today. The sun and the wolf don’t really get on with each other and often leave me feeling quite drained and tired. I do wear factor 50 and a hat, which helps. But when you are out in it all day long, day after day, it can get a bit too much for him. But what can you do? I’m not going to not go out and enjoy exploring the area because the sun is shining! I’m hoping after a bit of rest this morning, painkillers, and caffeine, I will feel a bit better.

Anyways, enough from me.

Until next week,

Stay safe

Emma
