Scotland is one very, beautiful country! Full of beautiful scenery and challenging mountain summits to tackle. It is home to two National Parks:
- – Cairngorms National Park and Loch Lomond
- – Trossachs National Park
Here are the different types of Scottish mountains:
- Marilyn is any hill or mountain at least 150 metres (492 feet) in height. (All of the British Isles relating to this, not just Scotland). There are 1219 of them in Scotland.
- Corbett is a mountain between 762 metres (2500 feet) and 914.4 metres (3000 feet) in height and has a 152.4 metres (500 feet) drop. There are 222 of them in Scotland. You also get Corbett Tops, which are subsidiary summits and have to have at least a 30 metres (98.43 feet) drop around all sides. There are 454 of them in Scotland.
- Munro is a mountain over 914.4 metres (3000 feet) in height. There are 282 of them in Scotland.
- Donalds are hills located in Lowland Scotland that are above 609.6 metres (2000 feet) in height. You get Donald Hills which are the main individual summits and Donal Tops which are the more minor summits. There are 89 Donald Hills to climb and 51 Donald Tops to climb.
- Archies are Scotland’s 1000 metres (3280.84) mountains. There are just 130 of them.
- Dodd is a Scottish hill between 500 metres (1640.42 feet) and 599 metres (1965.22 feet) in height with a drop of at least 30 metres (98.43 feet) all around. There are 946 of them in Scotland.
- Grahams is a mountain between 609.6 metres (2000 feet) and 762 metres (2500 feet) in height, with at least 150 metres (492.13 feet) drop on all sides. There are 219 of them in Scotland. You also get Grahams Tops and there are 780 of them in Scotland. Grahams Tops are subsidiary summits.
- Highland Fives are hills in the Scottish Highlands between 500 metres (1640.42 feet) and 609 metres (1998.03 feet) in height, with a drop of at least 30 metres (98.43 feet) on all sides. There are 775 of them in total.
- Murdos are Scotland mountains over 914.4 metres (3,000 feet) in height. There are 441 of them in total.
- Simms is a hill over 600 metres (1968.5 feet) in height, with a drop of at least 30 metres (98.43 feet) all around. Scotland has 2188 of them.
