Pary Mountain: The Copper Kingdom

Pary Mountain is an 18th century Copper Kingdom. It’s incredible! As you head into the old minds, you feel as though you have left earth and landed on Mars. It’s an experience not to be missed!

You can take whatever route you want around Pary Mountain, just as longs as you reach that trig at the summit!

As we were quite short of time, we only did a short 1-mile walk to the trig point and back down again. However, it was enough to appreciate the real gem of the place. It’s up to you if you follow our route, or if you want to take a longer route around the kingdom, the choice is completely yours!

Location

Pary Mountain is located in the northeast of Anglesey, just south of the town of Amlwch.

Parking

There is a Pary Mountain Car Park, however, there is a height restriction. Our campervan was too tall, so we had to park on the layby at the edge of the road, next to the car park.

The Route

Follow this map, as you walk the route, you shouldn’t get lost! Make sure your location is turned on and you should be able to see exactly where you are, on this map. Or if you prefer, download the GPX file and use it on your choice of route tracker.

1.

Starting in the car park, you will see a footpath making the start of the trail. Take the footpath. Very shortly, you will reach a path junction. Take the path going off to your right-hand side.

2.

Follow the path for a short distance until you see a path going off to your left-hand side, uphill. Take the path and follow it up to the summit of Pary Mountain, where you will see a trig point and an old mill. Lookout on your right-hand side as you will pass a massive disused quarry.

3.

Once you’ve reached the summit and taken your selfies at the trig point, start your route down. Retrace your steps back down for a short distance, till you reach a path junction. Take the path going off to your right-hand side and follow it around. Eventually, you will reach a path going off to your right-hand side, leading you back to the car park, where you started the walk from.
