Falkirk is a large town in the Central Lowlands of Scotland; 23 miles northwest of Edinburgh and 20 miles northeast of Glasgow.
Our main reason we choose to visit Falkirk is down to 2 reasons; to see the Falkirk Wheel and to see The Kelpies.
Falkirk Wheel
The Falkirk Wheel is a rotating boat lift that connects the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. It’s incredible to see it! You can even experience the ride yourself on one of their daily boat trips. The Falkirk Wheel is the World’s only rotating boat lift!

The Kelpies
The Kelpies are 30-metre-high horse-head sculptures, standing next to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde Canal. The largest equine sculptures in the world and they are incredible to see! They even light up at night in beautiful colours. They are free to see however, they do charge for car parking. If you get there early enough, there is a smaller car park on your way in, on your left-hand side, which is free to park your car at. This car park does get full quickly though.
