If you are looking at walking a small section of the Arran Coastal Way or want to do a lovely coastal circular walk near the Village of Lochranza, this is the walk to do!
The walk starts and finishes in the Village of Lochranza. The route leads you north, along the coastal path to the Fairy Dell. A place rumoured to be a gateway to the land of fairies! From there, it leads up along the hillside, providing beautiful views along the Kilbrannan Sound. It’s a beautiful, family-friendly, 4-mile walk.
Location
The Village of Lochranza is located on the northwest side of the Isle of Arran.
Parking
There isn’t a lot of parking at the trailhead. We managed to get parked outside Medical Surgery, on Newton Road. If you are staying at Lochranza campsite, the trailhead is within walking distance.

The Route
Follow this map, as you walk the route, and you shouldn’t get lost! Make sure your location is turned on and you should be able to see exactly where you are, on this map. Or if you prefer, download the GPX file and use it on your choice of route tracker.
Walk the route anti-clockwise!
1.
Starting along Newton Road, follow the road north out of Lochranza. Continue following the road as it bends west towards the Kilbrannan Sound. Eventually, the road will come to an end, and a footpath will start.

Follow the footpath north towards Fairy Dell, along the Arran Coastal Way. As you reach the Fairy Dell (a stone building) you should see a path going off to your right-hand side, leading you up the hillside.
3.
Take the path up the hillside and follow it as it leads you south, back towards Lochranaza. Eventually, the path will join a road. Follow the road back down to Newton Road.
4.
As you join Newton Road, retrace your steps back to where you started the route from.
