Queensferry is a separated by the Firth of Forth, with 3 bridges connecting North Queensferry with South Queensferry. The 3 bridges are Forth Bridge, Forth Road Bridge, and the old Forth Road Bridge. Queensferry is located just 10 miles north of Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital.

North Queensferry

North Queensferry is a little village, located on the north banks of the Firth of Forth. It’s a lot quieter than South Queensferry and a lot smaller in size too.

There were 2 main reasons for our visit to North Queensferry. Firstly, we wanted to have a drive across the toll-free bridge, the Forth Road Bridge. Our second reason was to see what the famous Forth Bridge looked like at a different angle.

South Queensferry

South Queensferry is very different from North Queensferry. It is a lot bigger and a lot busier with tourists. South Queensferry is a town with a port. When we visited, there was a big cruise liner that had docked for the afternoon.

The town is filled with lovely colourful houses, cafes, and restaurants. There are daily boat trips, which take you out of the Firth of Forth. It is a lovely place to visit for an afternoon. We decided to visit it on our way to Edinburgh, traveling from Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
