Suffering With A Poorly Chest

Happy Sunday guys! Hope you’re all having a lovely one! So far, I’ve had a lovely, relaxing weekend at home. Currently, suffering from a poorly chest which I will talk more about, shortly.

Sorry, there was no blog last week. We decided at short notice, to head to the Peak District in Casper, to do some beautiful Autumn walks. It was lovely! We had a great weekend ticking off trigs, walking through woodlands, and waking up to some incredible sunrises. After each walk, we chilled out at the local cafes with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. It was perfect! We came home feeling so relaxed and recharged!

Here are a few photos from our weekend away:

My ENT Appointment

Last week I had my ENT hospital appointment. He put a camera up my nose to see what is going on with my sinuses. This wasn’t fun as my sinuses were sore. However, I did get to see the inside of my nose on camera which I loved it. Yes, I’m weird like that!

He basically explained to me how my sinuses are quite narrow and how I need to make sure I wash them out daily to prevent them from getting blocked so easily. He’s also gone and arranged a CT scan for me to get a better picture of what’s going on inside my sinuses. He said he might decide to operate on them, depending on what comes back on the CT scan. If he does operate, it will only be a temporary fix. So he will have to way up if it’s worth putting me through surgery or not. Basically, he could scrape away some of the tissue in my sinuses to make my sinuses wider, but it will grow back. If my CT scan shows my sinuses are blocked, then he can drain them, but again probably will get blocked again in the future.

So we will see what the outcome is!

If an operation is going to give me 5 years of relief from my sinuses, I would say it’s worth it. If it’s only to give me a year, probably not. I can’t imagine the operation is particularly nice to have. The pain my sinuses will be in afterward as they heal from surgery!

My Poorly Chest

My chest has been bad for the last couple of weeks. My asthma seemed to have flared up. Just constantly feel tight-chested and it’s exhausting! Not sure if it’s allergies that have caused it? I know this time of year I do suffer from all the mold spores that are around.

On Friday, I spoke to my doctor. They wanted me to increase my Prednisolone for a week to get rid of the inflammation in my airways. However, I persuaded them not to, as I have a skin biopsy coming up for a rash on my face. If I go on a higher dose of my oral steroids, my rash always clears up. If this happens the biopsy won’t be able to go ahead. I’ve been waiting long enough for this biopsy, so I really don’t want to have to cancel it!

Luckily, my doctor was very understanding. Instead, she suggested I increase my steroid inhaler from twice a day to four times a day. She’s also prescribed my Fexofenadine to take along the side of my Certizine. She said, if I have no improvement after a week, I will have no choice but to increase my oral steroids.

Today is day 2 on my increased inhaler dosage and I am feeling a slight benefit. So hopefully, it’s a sign it’s working!

Flu Jab Done!

I had my seasonal flu jab on Friday. Thankfully, I felt absolutely fine afterwards. I’m also back on my Methotrexate again, after having a two-week break for my Covid vaccine. So that’s all my jabs done for this year! Not sure if there’s a link between not being on my Methotrexate and my chest flaring up? Or if it sorely down to allergies causing inflammation on my chest? Who knows! I just know my Methotrexate is the one medicine that keeps me well and gives me the life I currently have!

Excited For Next Weekend!

That’s it from me this week. There will be no blog next week as I’m off to the NEC Motorhome Show in Birmingham. I’m so excited! I love looking at other motorhomes, with different styles and layouts. Sometimes I wish Alex and I were better at DIY. We would love to one day buy a van and turn it into a motorhome designed by us. But with our current skills, the units would be wonky, the bed wouldn’t fit, there would be no electrics, the plumbing probably leak, and the diesel heater probably explode! We would be on the phone with my dad every weekend, begging for his help to fix our problems. So don’t worry, we have no plans of getting rid of Casper anytime soon! Plus, we love Casper. He’s perfect!

Until next time,

Goodbye for now

Emma
