Asthma Flare

What a cold, frosty week it has been! Where I live, there hasn’t been any snow. I’m absolutely gutted we didn’t get any! I love snow! However, it has been beautiful with all the frost, so it’s still been nice.

Today’s blog is only going to be a short one! I’ve got a lot to do, including packing for New York which I am sooooooo edited about! We’ve got ice skating booked on Christmas Day morning at the famous Wollman Rink in Central Park, followed by the famous Rockettes Christmas Spectacular show. We are then ending the day with hopefully a beautiful sunset at the Top of the Rock. However, my dream of a white Christmas is looking unlikely at the minute. But the weather forecast is always wrong right? So I’m not giving up on my dream as yet!

My Asthma

This week my Asthma has annoyingly flared up! At the start of the week, it was the cold air getting on my chest, flaring my airways up. But as the week went on, I managed to control it a bit better by covering my mouth and nose with my scarf and walking a bit slower so the cold air wasn’t hitting my chest as fast.

Then yesterday, out of nowhere I had an attack! It wasn’t from the cold air, but from the dry air! As daft as it sounds, I was drying my hair with my hair dryer and I started to struggle to breathe. Never had this before! It was scary, the feeling of suffocation! I had to use my blue inhaler over and over again before I finally got some relief. I was literally on the verge of needing to get some urgent medical help! Honestly, I have never experienced my Asthma that bad before!

Shortly after, we went out to see family. We got into the car and turned on the heated blowers. Very quickly, I started to struggle to breathe again. Basically, my chest was not liking any warm, dry air that day!

Honestly, I do not know what’s going on with my chest these last few months. I do struggle with hot and cold temperatures on my chest, but never in the state I have been recently! I am going to try and see my doctor tomorrow and see what’s going on with my chest. I don’t know if my inhalers need changing? Or if my chest is sensitive because of the infections I’ve had and it’s not fully recovered? Or what? After an attack, you are meant to see the doctor by the following day, so I need to. Also, with my going to New York at the end of the week so I need it sorted! The last thing I want is to have an attack on the plane at 36,000 feet in the sky due to the warm blowers above my head, chucking out dry, warm air.

Hopefully, my chest will get sorted tomorrow and I will be well for Christmas!

On that note, time to get packing! Have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year. I will be back in the New Year, with hopefully, so much to tell you about New York and the white Christmas I’m dreaming about!

Until 2023,

Goodbye for now!

Emma
