My Weekly Lupus Diary

The Heatwave

It’s been a bit of an interesting week with my health. My stomach hasn’t been great, my sinuses have been bad, and the heat made the wolf a bit angry. The good news, I’m feeling so much better today. To a point where I felt well enough to head out onto the trails for a run this morning. It’s the first run of the week and it felt so good! I even happened to bump into a poppy field. Something I’ve been on a hunt for, weeks and weeks on end! I just love them! It’s the little things in life that make me happy.

In case any of you are wondering how Casper is doing, he’s doing good. He’s got a fancy new camera at the rear end, to prevent him reversing into any sheep. I have to say, I have missed him for the last 2 weeks. Definitely looking forward to being back on the road with him next weekend. I did run by him this morning. I wanted to give him big hug, but I thought people might think I’ve lost my mind, so I just waved at him instead.

The Heat

Ok, I’m about to sound like a typical Brit! I complain when it’s cold, and then when we do get some warmer weather, I complain it’s too hot. I don’t always complain. Today, it’s perfect. It’s warm enough to wear your summer clothes, but it’s not too hot, were it feels uncomfortable.

The extreme heat this week made the wolf get a bit angry. It’s any stress to my body, he doesn’t like. By Thursday evening, I felt really unwell. I wasn’t out sitting in the sun. In fact, I had avoided the sun most of the week, other than the walk to and from work, and a little bit of gardening I did on Wednesday tea time. It was just the heat and my body working super hard trying to cool it down.

Luckily, after listening to my body, giving it a bit of rest, and then with the heat decreasing in temperature, I started to feel a lot better.

My Sinuses

My sinuses have been so bad this week. Each day they have got worse and worse, relying heavily on decongestions, sinus washes, steam, and lots of Vicks. Yesterday, I came home from work and fell to sleep at 4 in the afternoon. Sinuses don’t just hurt, they make you feel tired and weak.

After my little nap, I thought to myself, there’s something in my house that is making my sinuses worse. Something in the living room. Something that has changed since last weekend. It reminded me of how I felt a few weeks back when I brought that Spider Plant back from Robin Hood’s Bay. I then remembered I had brought a cactus into my house from the greenhouse.

Basically, here’s the short story. I noticed my cactuses in my greenhouse thriving in the heat and sunlight. So I thought it was a good idea to move the ones from my house into the greenhouse to help them, just for a few weeks. Just to give them a bit of boost. I then noticed one of them was drying out too quickly in the heat, so last weekend I decided to bring that one back into my house. Since that day, my sinuses have got congested. Yesterday, I decided to move it back into the greenhouse. Today, I’ve woken up feeling so much better with my sinuses.

I know this all sounds crazy! I’m not allergic to cactuses, but I am allergic to mould spores and I’m not sure if I’m allergic to lemon trees. The lemon tree is in my greenhouse, and it wouldn’t surprise me if there are mould spores in the greenhouse too. So I’m wondering if either the pollen from the lemon tree or the mould spores have transferred onto the cactus? Or maybe it’s something else I’m allergic to in my greenhouse?

Why I Have That Lemon Tree

Why I still have that lemon tree I do not know! It’s caused me nothing but drama!

If you’ve been around for some time reading my blogs, you may have read about the time I decided to bring the lemon tree into my house to protect it from the cold and gave myself a sinus infection. Not sure if it was due to mould spores in the soil or from the lemon tree itself. But I made the lemon tree well and made myself poorly.

Then a couple of months ago, I decided to repot it and found out there was a massive ants nest inside it. So I had ants crawling all up me! Don’t worry, I had moved it back into my greenhouse well before this happened, so I didn’t have ants crawling around the house, luckily!

I was then thinking the other day, I can’t even eat lemons with my gastro issues. So why do I even have this lemon tree?

I can’t have it for aesthetic looks as it makes me ill. I can’t eat the lemons because it makes me ill. And if I try and give it any TLC, I end up with ants crawling up me.

Anyway’s that’s it from me today. My site merge is coming along nicely. This site will go offline Wednesday night for a couple of hours, as we move everything across. Hopefully, next week I will be typing away on my new website. Don’t worry the domain and blogs will be staying the same.

However, anyone who is subscribed to my weekly blogs will have to resubscribe. So if you rely on the e-mail each week, next Sunday you will not get that e-mail. Instead, you will have to keep an eye out on here for my blog. I apologise for the inconvenience, but there’s just no way I can get around that. Next week after my site change, you will be able to resubscribe.

Until next week

Stay safe

Goodbye for now
