The wind the last few days has been wild! We’ve just been out for a walk and I nearly got blown away! It felt as though I was walking along a mountain ridge and not the rolling hills.
Most of the time the weather doesn’t bother me. If it’s cold, I wrap up warm. If it’s rainy, I put on my waterproofs. If it’s sunny, I put on my factor 50. If it’s windy, it’s a pain in the backside!!!
This weekend I haven’t felt myself, mentally or physically. I’m feeling ever so drained. Fighting that wind on the walk wasn’t what I needed. Maybe I shouldn’t have gone out. Maybe, I should have had a full weekend’s rest. My body is exhausted! However, I did it for my mental health. Was it the right thing to do? I’m sure I will find out next week!
I’m So Excited To Be Able To Travel For Hikes Again
Mentally this weekend, I have been feeling fed up. Friday night was spent studying the OS map, and trying to find a new route we could walk this weekend. One that we haven’t walked 100 times already this year. However, we have walked pretty much every trail within walking distance from our house. I want somewhere new to walk. I want a change of scenery. As much as I try and live in the moment, I cannot wait till the first weekend after the 29th of March, when we can break free from our local area for hikes. I will have a long list of hikes lined up and I cannot wait! Just trying to decide which one to do first!
My Antibiotics Caused My Stomach To Become Inflamed
I think I’ve been feeling mentally worse this weekend because I’m feeling physically worse. The 2 normally co aside with each other. I’m exhausted, my body is exhausted. It’s been through a lot over the last couple of weeks.
First of all, I had to fight a sinus infection, which has cleared up nicely. However, the antibiotics played havoc on my stomach and caused it to become inflamed. This then left me with sleepless nights, feeling ever so sick, with a stomach ache. Luckily, after finishing the course of antibiotics, going on an acidic-free diet, and lots of Gaviscon, my stomach has now seemed to have healed. But it has been a stressful week for my body and I think it’s taken a toll. It’s been slightly too much for the wolf to handle, leaving him a bit unhappy this weekend.
Not only that, the rashes on my face have continued to get worse and have now spread onto both hands!
I’m worried I’m heading into a flare-up. Not only have I been feeling quite fatigued this weekend, but I’ve also noticed today, my elbows have been so sore. I went to take some codeine for the pain and noticed my tablets were out of date. It’s been months since I’ve last needed to take codeine! This is how much better my health has been doing. I used to have to take codeine on a weekly basis, but now it’s once in a blue moon, which is such good news!
Exercising Has Really Helped My Joints And Muscles
I also noticed ever since I’ve started exercising a year ago, my joints and muscles had been less stiff and I’ve been in a lot less pain with them. Even recently, I’ve not needed my walking poles out with me on my walks. A year ago I would have never been able to go walking without them. I always remember the time I once forgot to bring them. I thought I would be ok as the walk was fairly flat. I wasn’t ok, my knees were so sore. Now, I cannot remember the last time my knees felt sore. This makes me so happy!
As much as I don’t need my poles on my local walks, I will be using them when I am back hiking in the mountains again. Hopefully, it will be more to protect my knees than me actually needing them. If you get me?
Anyways, that’s it from me this week. I’m going to have a lovely soak in the bath and read my book. Currently reading a book about a guy who has climbed the 14 highest mountains in the world in record time. ‘Beyond Possible’ by Nimsdai Purja. The same guy who was part of the first-ever team to summit K2, the 2nd highest mountain in the world, in winter!
Until next week
Goodbye for now
