Day 8  of my 2-week road trip

Tropical Islands – Sachsenhausen – Berlin – Dresden – Prague – Vienna – Devin Castle – Sandberg – Bratislava – Lake Balaton – Bokodi – Budapest

As part of our 2-week road trip across Europe, my partner and I decided to stop by Devin Castle on the way to Bratislava from Vienna.

Devin Castle has located just 12 km outside the city, Bratislava. It is 212 metres above sea level, providing great views of the Danube and Morava Rivers. The castle was once part of the Roman border in the first century A.D. It later became the seat of the Great Moravian Empire and a strategic post during the Turkish Wars. Since then, it has been declared to be a national cultural monument of Slovakia, providing beautiful panoramic views of the surroundings.

Location

Devin Castle is located 12 km West from the city, Bratislava in a town called Devin.

We drove to Devin Castle and parked in their free car park. However, if you do not have your own car, there is a bus from Bratislava’s city centre. Catch bus 28 from the bus stop under the Most SNP Bridge to Devin. It will take you around 20 minutes to get there. If you did not want to catch a bus, there is always a taxi that will take you there.

Admission

Entry to the castle is €5 for adults and €2.50 for children. You will need to allow between 1 to 2 hours for your visit. For more information on admission cost and opening times, please check their website: Devin Castle.
