Finally Getting The Wolf Back On My Side!

Happy Bank Holiday! I hope you’re all having a lovely one so far! Last night, I had some friends round for a BBQ to celebrate my birthday. It was lovely! We had the firepit going, keeping us nice a toasty. It was just perfect!

August hasn’t been my month this year! But I can finally say, I’m finally getting the wolf back on my side. After writing my last blog, I fell ill again. It then lead to me going onto another increased dose of oral steroids. Two weeks on, I’m thankfully doing so much better. I’m still on a higher dose, but slowly tapering them back down to my maintenance dose.

Too Many Steroids!

I’ve had a lot of steroids this month, too much for my liking, and have suffered with some of the nasty side effects from them. I think what went wrong was the steroid injection. My nurse always said to me it be 50/50 if it will work or not. I feel like the steroid injection helped very little, instead, it just delayed my recovery from the flare. I felt better for about 2 days after the injection started to kick in, but even then I knew my body was still not right. Not like how it feels after a course of high-dose oral steroids.

It is just so frustrating! Knowing if they just left me on the first course of high-dose steroids, I probably would have been well weeks ago. Instead, I’ve now suffered for almost the whole of August. I know sometimes you have to try things before you know if they are going to work or not. But sometimes, it’s better just to stick with what you know!

Sun Cream

For anyone who gets sun cream on prescription, the brand Sunsense Ultra has been discontinued. Which is so annoying as I like that one the best! I’ve been having trouble getting it for a little while now. The GP has swapped my prescription over to a different brand. You might have to ask your GP to do the same. You also might have a choice of different brands of sun cream to choose from too.

For anyone who doesn’t know, if you have Lupus or an illness that causes you to be sensitive to the sun, you are entitled to free sun cream on prescription.

That’s it from me this week. Got some European road trip planning to do this afternoon. We are planning on taking Casper across to the Swiss Alps and the Italian Dolomites in September for Alex’s birthday. I can’t wait! It’s going to be Casper’s biggest adventure yet!

Until next week,

Goodbye for now.
