family days out Florida Theme Parks

Walt Disney Park – Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida. The park opened in 1989 and was formally known as MGM.

I visited in December 2008 with my family. Since my visit, Toy Story Land has been introduced to the park and Stars Wars: Galaxy Edge is due to open later this year. Also, a view of the rides and shows I did/saw, may now have been changed. Another change I have noticed, it cost to park your car for the day, whereas when I visited back in 2008, car parking was free of charge. Car parking will cost you $25 for the day.

Here are some of the most popular attractions at Hollywood Studios, which were at the park when I visited, back in 2008:

Tower of Terror

If you love a thrill ride, then this one is for you. You step inside an elevator and brace yourself for a sudden drop of 40-metres, when you’re least expecting it. My sister loved this ride, she ended up going on it twice! I wasn’t as brave as her and gave this ride a miss.

Fastpasses are available for this ride.

Muppet Vision 3D

I love the Muppets! The Muppet Vision is an indoor, 15 minutes long, 3D show that makes you giggle. It is perfect for all ages; a great family attraction.

Rock N Roll, Aerosmith Roller Coaster

This roller coaster is not for the faint-hearted. It accelerates from 0 to 57 mph in just 2.7 seconds, experiencing 5 Gs. I gave this one a miss. My family went on it and all enjoyed it except my mom, who’s words were, as she stepped off the ride, ‘It takes your breath away!’

Fastpasses are available for this ride.

Indiana Jones: Epic Stunt Spectacular

A fantastic show that takes you behind the scenes of the filming of Indiana Jones. With plenty of stunts to see, it will interest all the family.

Beauty And The Beast – Live On Stage

A 30-minute performance, full of dancing and singing. The performances run 5 times a day and is perfect for all the family to enjoy and sing-a-long to.

Fantasmic

Fantasmic was one of my biggest highlights of the park. It is a show that is performed in the evening with lights, animations, and music. The show is about a battle between Mickey and Disney Villains. There are 2 shows each evening. Get there early to get a good seat. The show will last 30 minutes and is located in the Fantasmic Amphitheater, behind the Tower of Terror. The later show is usually less busy then the earlier one.
