A big thing to currently do in the Peak District at the minute is to tick off trig points. If you are one of the people who are collecting them, this walk needs to be done. If you’re not, then I still recommend this little hill. It’s only a short walk, with a little climb, but don’t let that put you off. The views at the top are incredible! Just sometimes you don’t have to climb for the best views!
The walk starts and finishes at Ladybower Reservoir. The walk is a typical hill walk. It goes up and then it goes down. It’s not a difficult climb, the paths are well marked, and are easy to follow! At the top you will be treated with a heart!
Location
The walk starts and finishes at Ladybower Dam, not too far from the village of Bamford in Hope Valley.
Parking
You have a choice of parking, but both do get full quite quickly, so get there early! You can park in the parking bays along the edge of Ladybower Reservoir on the A6013 for free, or park in the Heatherdene car park for a cost.

The Route
Follow this map, as you walk the route, you shouldn’t get lost! Make sure your location is turned on and you should be able to see exactly where you are, on this map. Or if you prefer, download the GPX file and use it on your choice of route tracker.
1.
Starting at Ladybower Dam next to the A6013. Head across the dam. Then take the footpath going off to your right-hand side, and follow it for a little while. You should pass a footpath going off to your left-hand side. On the next footpath you see going off to your left-hand side, there should be a signpost marking Win Hill.
2.
Take the footpath and follow it up, as it makes its way up Win Hill, through the trees, and out onto the open. There are lots of different path junctions along the way. My advice is to carefully follow the map, so you don’t end up on the wrong path.
3.
Once you get onto the ridge, turn towards your left-hand side and make your way to the summit of Win Hill.
4.
Once you’ve enjoyed the views at the summit, it’s time to make your way down. Instead of going down the same way you’ve come up, head east off the summit and follow the footpath down of the hillside, through the trees, until you reach the path beside Ladybower Reservoir.
5.
Here, turn towards your right-hand side and follow the path back towards the dam. Head across the dam and back to where you started the walk.
