Aber Falls is one incredible waterfall! The 37 metre waterfall, located in Snowdonia National Park is one not to be missed!
The walk to Aber Falls is 2-miles long. The most popular route is the gravel track to and from the waterfall. However, if you are like me, enjoy getting away from the crowds, and like a good circular walk, then I recommend this route. The route takes you to Aber Falls along the tourist path but then talks you out into the hills, with views as far as the Isle of Anglesey. I 100% recommend this route!
The walk is just over 5-miles long. It’s an easy walk, however, I do recommend good footwear, clothing, and a map. You could quite easily get lost, as there are lots of different paths going off in different directions. Not all paths are signposted.
Location
Aber Falls is located north of Snowdonia National Park. The nearest town, Bangor is 7-miles west of Aber Falls. If you are coming from the east, the town Conwy is just 10 miles east of Aber Falls.
Parking
There is a car park at Aber Falls. However, we decided to park a little further down, in the car park, just before entering the village of Abergwyngregyn. The road leading up to Aber Falls car park is narrow and not suitable for long vehicles. So we decided not to risk driving our camper van along the road.
You can park at either. You will just need to adapt the start and finish of this walk if you decide to park in the Aber Falls car park.

The Route
Follow this map, as you walk the route, you shouldn’t get lost! Make sure your location is turned on and you should be able to see exactly where you are, on this map. Or if you prefer, download the GPX file and use it on your choice of route tracker.
1.
Starting at the car park, just before the village of Abergwyngregyn, head through the village and up the country lane, to Aber Falls car park. If you have parked at Aber Falls car park, you can miss this section out.

From Aber Falls car park, head onto the marked trail path to Aber Falls. The first part is on a narrow path through the woods. You then cross a wooden bridge on your left-hand side. Take the wide chalk path on your right-hand side, and follow it all the way up to Aber Falls.

Once you’ve enjoyed admiring Aber Falls, retrace your steps back roughly 20 to 30 metres. You will see a wooden bridge on your left-hand side. Cross over the bridge, and head up the path, going off to your left-hand side. You should now see Aber Falls again.

Take the path going off to your right-hand side and follow it, passing another waterfall on your left-hand side. Eventually, the path should curve round, leading you back down the valley. As you head down the valley, you will see paths lead off in different directions. Stay on your path, heading down the valley, travelling north/northwest. Using the map will help you stay on course.

Eventually, you should be able to see the coastline and even the Isle of Anglesey on a clear day. From here, look out for a path going off to your right-hand side. You should notice it, just before the path bends round to the west. Take the path and head down towards the road leading you to and from the village of Abergwyngregyn.
Remember to check your map consistently, to make sure you are on the right path at all times.

As you reach the road, turn towards your left-hand side and walk through the village of Abergwyngregyn, back to where you started the walk from. If you have parked at Aber Falls car park, you will want to turn towards your right-hand side and walk up the road back to the car park.
