Beach family days out Florida Road Trips

Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach is a city, located on the Atlantic coast. East coast of Florida. The city is famous for the International Speedway but also has one of the world’s most famous beaches. It’s just an hour’s drive away from Florida’s capital, Orlando, making it a perfect day trip to the coast when on holiday visiting the Disney parks.

Home to 23 miles of beautiful, sanded beach, there’s room for everyone to enjoy. If sitting on the beach and soaking up the sun-rays is not your cup of tea, then why not take a walk along the pier or take part in some water sports. If you want to avoid the beach all together, then head downtown to the shops or enjoy the day at Daytona Waterpark or race around Daytona Speedway. You can also enjoy a Daytona Beach Zipline Adventure if you’re up for some kind of a thrill.

If you are planning on basing your holiday in the city, there is plenty of great accommodation to choose from.

I visited Daytona Beach with my family, back in December 2008, as part of our 2 week holidays at Disney World. We only spent the morning in the city before heading back to the Disney parks for the afternoon. Even though our stay was very short-lived, I was not disappointed. The beach was one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever visited. It was very clean, beautiful, golden colour and wasn’t too busy. I enjoyed some delicious onion rings from a stall along the seafront before heading in the car, for our drive back to Disney. I definitely would revisit if I have the opportunity to do so.
