Location
Crawford Notch is a dramatic mountain pass located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, along U.S. Route 302. It sits between the towns of Bartlett and Bretton Woods and is part of the stunning Crawford Notch State Park.
Parking
There is plenty of parking around the trailhead! You can park along the US-302, next to Sacro Lake, or at Crawford Depot. A bit further along the road, there is paid parking at the AMC Highland Center.
This is one of the most popular hikes in the area, especially in fall, so parking fills up quickly!
Best times to go in peak season, either early morning or towards tea time, to get a parking spot!

The Route
Follow this map as you walk and you shouldn’t get lost! Make sure your location is turned on and you should be able to see exactly where you are. Or, if you prefer, download the GPX file and use it on your choice of route tracker.
This route is an out-and-back trail.
1.
Starting at Crawford Depot, head across the train lines and take the path leading you into the woods.
Trains do still run — be alert when crossing!

Very shortly, you will reach a path junction. Take the path going off to your left-hand side, signposted the Mount Willard Trail.
3.
Follow the path up through the woods until you eventually reach the summit.
As you make your way up through the trees, lookout for a little waterfall on your right-hand side.
4.
Once you’ve finished enjoying the views over the valley of Crawford Notch, retrace your steps back down through the trees.
5.
After a while, you will reach a path junction. Take the path going off to your right-hand side, back to Crawford Depot, where you started the walk from.
