Well, I was meant to be in the Lake District this weekend, sat in my lovely new camper and not sat on my sofa at home, writing this week’s blog. We were meant to picking up our motorhome yesterday, however, it was quite ready. The second weekend of cancelled plans. They have now promised us it will be ready on Tuesday. I really hope so as we head to Scotland on Friday. At this rate, we will be sleeping in the car for 2 weeks!
We’ve had a lovely afternoon today, despite our plans being cancelled. Alex and I got out of a lovely short stroll through some woodland area near our home. It was full of bluebells. If you are after seeing some, now is the time. They are all in full bloom!

My Eye Appointment
I had my eye appointment at the hospital this week. My eye nurse has been keeping a very close eye on my eyes for the past 6 months. Thankfully, they have not got any worse. My right eyelid is slightly more swollen than my left. The good news though, the swelling hasn’t got any worse. I can feel it though. My right eye doesn’t ever feel as open as my left eye.
Another good news, my muscle weakness hasn’t got any worse. They have replaced the prism in my glasses with a new one but the same strength. The new one isn’t as visible as my old one, which makes me a lot happier. It doesn’t look as though I’m walking around with a black eye anymore!
Even though my eyes haven’t got any worse, my eye nurse still wants to keep a close eye on my eyes. As annoying as it is having to go to lots of hospital appointments, it’s a good thing.
I’ve Taken A COVID Immune Vaccine Test
I briefly mentioned last week about getting an immune test done, to see how many antibodies I have from the COVID vaccine. I decided to buy a test through the following website: http://monitormyhealth.org.uk
It cost £37 for the test. The test came through the post the day after. I had to prick my finger and squeeze blood into a test tube. I then had to post it off, using the pre-paid postage envelope they provide you with, on the same day I had done the test. I know that the post goes at 9am from the postbox near me. So I did it first thing that morning and got it posted before 9am. I should receive the results early next week. Fingers crossed I have lots of antibodies!
The Wolf
I’ve had a really good week overall with the wolf. We seem to be getting along pretty well at the minute. I just hope it lasts so I can have a great time in Scotland. I have plenty of lovely walks planned so I’m hoping I stay well and the weather stays dry.
As the wolf is so unpredictable, I’ve had to plan a mixture of walks in every area we plan to visit. Some really short mile-long walks, medium-length walks and even squeezed a few Munro’s in. The Munro’s I might be pushing my look with. For anyone who doesn’t know what a Munro is, it is a mountain above 3000 feet. I would love to bag one while I’m out there, but we will see. It will be great for Alex to experience his first Munro too! Not getting my hopes up though. We also need good weather for climbing them too. Scottish weather is almost as unpredictable as the wolf.
If the wolf decides to have a paddy while we are out in Scotland and walking becomes not an option. We are packing our laptops to catch up on blogs, books to read, and board games to play. Oh and I’ve just passed my theory test and got my license number to fly our drone. Basically, I am prepared for all occasions with the wolf…….and the Scottish weather!
The Next 2 Weeks
I hope to continue writing my weekly blog each week while I’m on the road. However, anyone who has spent time in the Scottish Highlands will understand when I say some places are so remote they have no cell coverage. We have gone and brought an antenna to go on the roof of our van. This is meant to pick up better signals than our phones themselves. However, I am still not guaranteed to get a signal. I will try and get my blogs out for you on Sunday. If I can’t, I will still write them and publish them as soon as I do get a bit of coverage. It may be a day or 2 later, but hopefully not.
Anyways better get off and get the last few last bits and bobs sorted for our road trip.
Until next week,
Goodbye for now
Emma
