My Sinus CT Scan

Happy Sunday guys! I feel like I’ve got quite a bit to catch you up on this weekend, including how my CT scan went, on my sinuses.

But before I talk about my scan, I will update you on how I’m feeling since we last spoke.

Thankfully, I’m doing a lot better now! My chest infection has cleared up, and I’m finally back down to my regular dose of Prednisolone. The inflammation in my chest had gone, but over the last couple of days, it has come back again. Not sure why? Hoping it’s nothing and will just improve itself over the next few days! I am keeping a close eye on it and if it does start getting worse, I will head back to the doctors to get it checked out.

Steroid Reduction

I have a plan for my steroid reduction. I talked about this in my previous blog, about how my consultant wants me to reduce my steroids by 0.5mg before I see her at the end of December. It’s only a very small dose, but there is a high risk I’m steroid-dependent and it might make me very unwell.

So my plan is, in 2 weeks’ time, to give it a go! I’ve arranged to work shorter hours at work for 1 – 2 weeks, as I get used to my new dose. It’s likely, as my body gets used to the new dose, I’m going to feel very fatigued, weak, and achy. But hopefully, if I’m not steroid-dependent, my adrenal glands should kick in, and start producing more of its own cortisol. This should then replace the 0.5mg less of Prednisolone, I’ll be giving my body.

Honestly, I know it’s going to be tough both physically and mentally. I’ve been here before! But I’m going to go in with an open, strong mind. I’ve got lots of support in place to help me get through it. During the next 2 weeks, my goal is to just try and get my body as strong as possible!

CT Scan

I had my CT Scan last week on my sinuses. It was the quickest, most painless thing ever! You lay on a bed which then slides into the scanner. The circular machine then rotates around your head, scanning your sinuses. I was worried about laying down for too long as I struggle with my stomach. I can’t lay down flat on a night when I sleep because my stomach acid comes back up and I start choking on it and I end up feeling very nauseous. But luckily, I didn’t have to for very long at all! It was literally over within minutes! So I had all the anxiety before it, for nothing!

The results have been sent off to my ENT consultant. Not sure when I will hear back with the plan of action, if they are going to operate or not. So I guess it’s just a waiting game at the minute!

That’s it from me this week.
