My Weekly Lupus Diary

I Made The Wolf Angry Causing A Lupus Flare

It’s been one crazy week! Not quite the week I imagined! From putting our house on the market to battling a flare-up to cancelling weekend plans with Casper.

We’ve been thinking about moving for some time but we hadn’t found anything we liked enough to warrant us to move. Well, until last week. We went to view a house and fell in love with it. We put an offer on it but sadly it can’t be secured until we have a buyer for ours. So this week we rushed to get ours onto the market.

It’s an exciting time, but there’s a lot of anxiety with it. The biggest anxiety I have is the people viewing my house. We’ve not had anyone step inside our house since the start of the pandemic. It’s been our safe space. Of course, if we want to sell the house, we have to allow people into our home to view it. It’s all safe. We open all the windows and doors for ventilation, everybody wears masks, and the buyers are not allowed to touch anything. It just feels so strange having people in our house. But I know if we want to move, we have no choice.

Stress And Lupus

It’s been a stressful week, from getting the house to look like a showroom, to getting it on the market, to having viewers round. By Wednesday, I knew the stress was starting to take a toll on my illness. My gastro issues started to flare up, the pain in my joints began to get worse, I knew the wolf wasn’t happy. I spent a lot of Wednesday resting.

Thursday morning, I woke up feeling a little better. I thought the rest was enough. However, the stress that was triggering my flare-up was still there. As the day went on, I felt worse and worse. By the evening, I could hardly stand up. My stomach had become so inflamed, I felt so drained with it. My throat felt so sore, not sure if that was from the acid in my stomach coming back up. My joints were throbbing away. I just climbed into bed and hoped I would feel better by the morning.

Friday morning, I didn’t have the strength to stand up. My body was so weak. I couldn’t shower, I barely had the strength to make some breakfast. I needed breakfast to take my 15-morning meds. My stomach was so sore. Everything I ate, felt as though it was getting stuck down my throat. I put myself on a very plain diet all day long, to try and heal my stomach. I just spent the day in bed sleeping and reading. I tried making myself a bath to ease the pain in my joints. But my body was that weak, it was too difficult, and gave up.

Yesterday, I woke up feeling quite a bit better, but still not fully 100%. So I spent yesterday resting.

Today, I’ve woken up feeling great! My stomach is so much better! I can now stomach 2 cups of coffee a day again, which for a coffee addict like me, it’s music to my ears! The pain in my joints has gone back down to the normal painful level I suffer with. Still got a bit of fatigue but nowhere near as bad. I guess I’m back to my normal levels of fatigue. I suffer a lot from my sinuses, earache, and congestion, due to allergies. They’ve been quite bad this weekend. But this level of fatigue I’m feeling is ok. You feel tired and drained all day long, but you can still function. It’s not like the fatigue you get in a Lupus flare-up.

Best Friends Again?

I’m hoping the wolf and I have made up. Hoping next week is a better week, and we become best friends with one and another again. Stress is my worst enemy. But no matter how much I try and avoid it, sometimes, you just can’t. I’m just grateful my flare-up has only lasted a couple of days. I’ve managed to fight it quickly and without the help of a steroid dose increase.

I guess sometimes listening to the wolf and giving him what he wants, does pay off!

Anyways that’s it from me this week.

Until next week,

Stay safe.
